"Find the right editor."
"Working with my editor is a vital part of my creative process. Editors all have different approaches: some produce copious amounts of typed notes referencing page numbers and others talk through the novel and elements of the story – as an author you have to find an approach that works best for you.
My editor belongs to the latter school and each time I meet with her I hope I am assimilating the process and will be able to edit my work more effectively in the future.
I believe that half of writers learn to edit their work themselves and half will always need editing. I admit with dismay that I belong to the latter group.
Good ideas never die. Although to begin with a lot of my work was rejected, the good ideas and elements from this work always stayed with me and I carry them forward to the next project.
Remember that there is value to be found in everything you write, so if you really want to write, keep trying, never give up and don’t be scared to share your work with others."
